PRP Mahila Rajyam secretary promises special courts for women

Praja Rajyam will establish special courts to deal with atrocities and attacks on women and accord priority to women welfare if it gains power, Mahila Rajyam State secretary B. Lakshmi Parvathi said on Wednesday. Speaking to newsmen at the Women’s Week celebrations in Rayachoti, she charged the Congress and Telugu Desam governments with failing to ensure proper implementation of legislations to curb the spate of criminal attacks and atrocities against women. She accused the State government of shielding the culprits. Ms. Lakshmi Parvathi demanded that the government regulate the feature films and television serials which were misguiding youth. Educational institutions should imbue discipline among students and create awareness among them on their social responsibility to bring down crime rate, she said. An awareness programme would be organised in memory of Sarojini Naidu in Vempalle on February 12. PR in charge of Rayachoti constituency Sugavasi Vidhyadhar said the party would give political priority to women and alleged that all other parties meted out a raw deal to women.
