Priority for women, youth: Chiranjeevi

Praja Rajyam Party chief K. Chiranjeevi has said that he will strike a balance between political leaders and fans while distributing party ticket in the next elections and give due priority for women and youth, the mainstay of the party.

ONGOLE: Praja Rajyam Party chief K. Chiranjeevi has said that he will strike a balance between political leaders and fans while distributing party ticket in the next elections and give due priority for women and youth, the mainstay of the party.

Speaking to reporters at Thaticherla where he stayed last night, Mr. Chiranjeevi refuted reports in a section of the press that internal squabbles affected the party. He said that problems did arise in some areas due to caste equations and they would be settled amicably soon.

He said that the PRP promise to supply a package of provisions -- 25 kg rice, one kg each of dhal, edible oil and salt and half a kg of tamarind -- at just Rs. 100 a month to all poor families evoked tremendous response from people. Buoyed by the response, the party wants to supply the package provisions to poor people in all Assembly constituencies symbolically on January 11 on the eve of Sankrathi to prove its sincerity and feasibility of the scheme.

He said that the Praja Rajyam Party would be given some semblance of organisation by middle of February. He admitted that the party faced problems for want of organisational structure. The party leaders would act as a bridge between himself and people.

He, however, asked people not to bother about organisation and vote for PRP candidates considering the fact that it would amount to voting for Chiranjeevi himself.
