GIDDALUR (Prakasam): Reacting sharply to the Satyam fiasco, Prajarajyam Party chief Chiranjeevi has alleged that both the Congress and TDP leaders have dirtied their hands in the muddle.
He said both the governments went out of the way to encourage the company, which led to misappropriation of huge public money. Speaking at a mammoth public meeting at Giddalur in Prakasam district on Thursday, Chiranjeevi said the top leaders of the Congress and the TDP were to be blamed for the state of affairs in Satyam Computers.
"Both of them have pocketed huge public money by awarding contracts illegally to the Satyam group. You should question them," he appealed to the people. Without taking the names of chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Chiranjeevi said: "Vaariki vaataalu unnayi. Veeriki vaataalu unnayi. Mee dabbu dochukunendukena veeriki votlu vesaru (The ruling party as well as TDP leaders have a share and have you (people) elected these leaders to loot your money?)," he said amidst loud cheers.
Chiranjeevi's Prakasam district tour was an unexpected success as people waited for him for kilometers from the scheduled venues. Though he did not address any roadshow, people, particularly the youth, ran along with his convoy. He addressed public meetings at Giddalur, Racherla, Cumbum and Yerragondapalem before reaching Markapuram.
He lashed out at the Congress government for its `anti-people' policies and high levels of corruption. He asked the crowds not to allow the officials to leave their places if they did not perform their duties properly. He said corruption at all levels was the main reason for the plight of the poor and promised to offer a corruption-free governance if he was given an opportunity.
"It is surprising that crowds turned up in huge numbers to all the public meetings in spite of lack of coordination among the local leaders," said a local PRP leader. At some places, people waited patiently for Chiranjeevi though he arrived almost two to three hours behind the schedule.
