ONGOLE: Buoyed by the AP High Court's decision to allow roadshows, Prajarajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi quickly changed his scheduled public
meetings in Prakasam district into a road show on Wednesday.
Chiranjeevi was reaching Kandukur town after addressing a public meeting at Singarayakonda when he received the news about the high court's green signal to conduct the road shows. Chiranjeevi held discussions with his close aides including Mitra, who were following him, and other senior leaders in Hyderabad over phone and decided to take his caravan in a road show in Kandukur town.
Crowds cheered and thundered when Chiranjeevi entered this small town in road show and gave him a rousing reception. In fact, Chiru was scheduled to address three public meeting one each at Singarayakonda, Kandukur and Kanigiri before staying at Chakicherla village in Kanigiri constituency. The party cadres jumped and danced when their matinee idol-turned-politician announced about turning his yatra in the district as a road show from Kandukur itself. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi continued his tirade against the state government saying there was no meaning for development if people were forced to take their lives out of hunger. "There will no more hunger deaths in Prajarajyam," he declared amidst clapping and resounding sloganeering of the cadres. He said that his government would extend a month's ration for just Rs 100 giving every poor family a chance to live with pride. He criticised that rulers were making the entire money by leaving the people hungry. He said that he would weed out corruption in all stages which would be enough for him to implement the ration for Rs 100 scheme.
He also raised incidents like acid attack on Swapnika and Praneetha in Warangal and murder of Ayesha Meera and said they would not have happened had the police been as serious about law and order as imposing restrictions on his public meetings. The police had booked cases against Chiranjeevi for addressing meetings in violation of the high court directives at Nalgonda.
