A hero who acts a crusader to benefit a group of orphans, with himself an orphan and thrashes the villain for the sake of his people — These kind of stories are not new to the Telugu audiences. The popular writer duo, who penned hundreds of stories for several heroes, failed to give a gripping story, especially, when they were promoting one of their family members as hero. Paruchuri Ravindranath, son of Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, made his debut as hero with this film. Though he had a well-built body and has the zeal to show his prowess as an artiste, the absence of a gripping story, especially that could keep him on a high pedestal, turned a curse for him.
Raju (Ravidranath) is an orphan. However, he had a kind heart. Ali Bhai (Kota Srinivasa Rao), who rose from the level of a beggar to a local mafia don rules the entire city. With the help of some other goons, he used to collect commission from the road-side hawkers and beggars at different junctions. He allocates each junction to one goon and Raju gets Krishna Nagar junction. Unlike any other junction, Krishna Nagar used to pay a hefty commission to Ali Bhai. Kanya Kumari (Naina), reaches the junction and starts selling coconuts without anyone's permission.
Though Raju tries to mend her, he could not do so and he develops a soft corner towards her. At this juncture, the government plans a metro rail project worth crores of rupees and the project route was fixed in a circular way. A prominent politician and ruling party (Dr Siva Prasad) of the area would lose a huge shopping complex, though it was on a benami name. The plan approved by the survey team would cause him loss to the tune of crores of rupees due to the metro rail project. If the plan has to be changed, it would be 10 km more distance and many junctions in the city would be affected making of hundreds of people jobless. An officer called Parthasarathy (Bhanuchander) did not allow the change in the route map. The MLA makes many attempts to lure Parthasarathy like bribe and by sending a girl to him. But all his efforts go waste.
The opposition leader (Chalapati Rao) appreciates Parthasarathy for being stubborn and at the same time threatens that he would commit suicide if he succumbs to political pressure. Finally, the ruling party MLA approaches Ali Bhai and as per the plan, a goon called Shankar keeps a bomb in Parthasarathy's car. As the bomb explodes, Parthasarathy and his wife die. However, their only daughter survives miraculously. With no hassles, the ruling party MLA manages to change the metro rail route. As a result, Krishna Nagar junction loses its shape with the demolitions taken by the officials. Unable to see his people scattered in the absence of the junction, Raju eliminates Shankar who kept the bomb in the car, Ali Bhai and also the ruling party MLA and restores the junction to its previous stage.
PLUS:
Though the film was made to introduce Paruchuri Ravindranath, the characters which were highlighted in the film are that of villains. Kota Srinivasa Rao stole the show with his impeccable performance and Babu Mohan played his sidekick. Though routine, Dr Siva Prasad, played another crooked politician cum villain in the film. MS Narayana again played a drunkard role as Liquor Narayana. The comedy track penned for Brahmanandam and Ali is a reversal of the 'Pokiri' track. In 'Pokiri' Ali played the beggar, and in this film it is Brahmanandam who played the beggar's role. Venumadhav also performed well as a stylised beggar, who begs as a software professional. But for a few comedy skits on MS Narayana, Ali, Brahmanandam, the film had no other plus points.
Though the hero has a good physique, the director failed to elevate him in any manner. At least there were no heroics, where the hero could prove a step ahead of other artistes. Though running a love track between the hero and heroine, the hero's heroism again crushed with the dominated acting of the heroine. However, the heroine too did not get adequate footage. The screenplay of the film was haphazard and there were several abrupt endings in many scenes. Paruchuri Brothers could not pen punch dialogues in the film and most of the hero's dialogues were penned in Telangana dialect, while that of heroine in Rayalaseema. They tried to make use of the changes in ring roads that took place in Hyderabad as the topic to run the story, which in no way helped the hero.
REMARKS:
When a hero is making his debut, he should have focus in the film and the director and writer of the story should ensure that he should carry the responsibility in the movement of the entire film. He should be focussed in as many ways and elevated it. With the poor directorial abilities and unimpressive screenplay, with no punch dialogues and sub-standard story, the film has nothing to offer to a debutant hero. It is a routine commercial formula film and could not attract any class of audiences. Though the film was aimed at mass audiences, the film has no mass masala except a sizzling dance by Mayuri @ Asha Saini. The only duet between the hero and heroine also not very impressive. None of the departments did a worthy job. The film is far below the average when it compared to Paruchuri Brothers' standards.
